20 A Prayer of Repentance - Psalms 51
Today’s reading is from the Book of Psalms Chapter 51
From this passage of scripture, we learn that there is none righteous, no, not one; not even the king.
Every person who is born into this world is born in sin.
Romans 3:10 and 23 says: There is none righteous, no, not one; for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
Confessing our sins before God is the first step to repentance; and when we come openly before him, he will forgive us.
1 John 1: says: If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
The Psalmist was asking God to create in him a new heart. In essence, he was asking to be born again; but that was not possible since God was not yet manifested in the person of Jesus Christ, to suffer, die and be raised from the dead.
John 7:37-39, the bible says: On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink.
